Best Looking Kettles 2021
[Contains affiliate links marked with an asterix]
When I mentioned on my Instagram stories that this weeks blog post was going to be about kettles (selfishly, because our kettle is on the blink so I would be doing some research for a new one anyway), I was not expecting the deluge of messages I got!
Apparently loads of you are also in the market for a new kettle too, and one followers kettle even burst into flames this week (EEK!), so this blog post now feels slightly less self serving, and I hope you might find one you like too if you are indeed looking.
I should probably apologise now, but if you’re after a colourful kettle, this is not the round up for you. Sorry.
I have found several that I didn’t know existed on my internet travels, and I won’t lie - I thought I knew which one I was going to buy, but now I’m torn between several, god damn it.
I should point out that I am a *tad* obsessed with gooseneck kettles that are specifically designed for pour over coffee, which tend to have a (sometimes much) smaller capacity than your average electric kettles, and these tend to have temperature control too, which is apparently very important.
The gooseneck affords pouring precision which is also apparently important for pour over coffee, but as you’ve most likely already gathered, I just love the way they look (#shallow).
From an environmental perspective you should really only ever boil as much water as you need anyway, so I don’t see the small capacity as a bad thing, but do take note before buying incase that’s an issue for you.
Did I mention I don’t actually drink pour over coffee? Or really coffee much at all? But I’m not going to let a silly little detail like that get in the way of owning a good looking kettle. Pretty sure they would also make a very lovely cup of tea!
My husband thinks that with our hard water that they will be quickly affected by limescale buildup, with their super thin spouts, but again, this is of little concern - I will just have to be better at descaling more regularly. Or as he suggested, look into a water softening filter system or jug!
Left off the list below as it is only available with an EU plug, is the Rig Tig Foodie kettle, but it’s so nice I wanted to still mention it. If an EU plug works for you, then do check it out.
So without further ado, here are my top picks for the best looking kettles currently on the market with UK plugs*. Leave a comment below and let me know your favourite/s!
[*UK plugs to the best of my knowledge. Please check for yourself before purchasing.]
1. Bodum Bistro Gooseneck Kettle This one ticks lots of my boxes and has a perfectly acceptable 1L capacity. This one doesn’t have temperature control if that’s important to you, but it sure does look good!
2. Stelton EM77 Elkedel Kettle Sleek as they come, the Elkedel Kettle by Stelton looks more jug than kettle and would sit elegantly in any kitchen.
3. Dualit Architect Kettle* This one has been on my radar for years. A design classic, the Dualit Architect Kettle has a 1.5L capacity. This is the one we will most likely purchase for my father-in-law who also needs a new kettle.
4. KitchenAid Glass Kettle KitchenAid is a favourite appliance brand and I am rather taken with this adjustable temperature glass number. I have just discovered that they also do a lovely gooseneck one!
5. Breville High Gloss White Kettle* Perfectly simple and affordable, this high-gloss white Breville kettle looks much more expensive than it is.
6. Fellow Stagg EKG Kettle The Fellow Stagg EKG kettle is the one that has my heart the most (well, at time of writing, though as anyone that knows me knows, I’m fickle and prone to changing my mind!). A decent 900ml capacity and variable temperature and temperature display. Perfect for coffee connoisseurs which I am not, but I love it all the same! Also available in black.
7. Alessi Plissé Kettle The Alessi Plissé Kettle has been around for a few years now and still looks fresh and cool. Comes in two sizes depending on your needs.
8. Hario Buono Kettle I first spotted this at a ridiculously stylish friends house a few years back, and I’m pretty sure it was when my fondness four pour over coffee kettles started. Still love this one!
9. Caso Kettle I’m also rather taken with the Caso kettle, however it has a diminutive 600ml capacity which is not quite enough four our household, but it might be for yours!
