Home and Fragrance Edit [Edition I]

[Ad info: contains gifted product]

I have a slightly embarrassing backlog of beautiful home fragrance and perfume products to tell you about, so I thought it would be nice to put them here on my blog rather than just story them and have them disappear after 24 hours. That way it’s always here if you want to refer back for gift ideas, or gifts to self of course, because we all know they’re the best kind.

I say it will always be ‘here’, but I will be moving over to Substack shortly, so do make sure you’re on my mailing list so I can shift you over with me when that happens. That said, in order for that to happen, I do need to dig out that techy part of my brain which has gone awol lately, so don’t hold your breath.

I actually have a lot to catch you up on, that does go rather a lot deeper than home fragrance, but that’s for another time, and for now I’m choosing to keep it light and breezy, and smelling deeeeelicious with this - one of my favourite subjects.

We’re covering a good spread of price points here, something for almost everyone, even if that’s to add to a ‘someday’ wish list. God knows I have a lot of those lists - surely I’m not the only one? So, let’s get to it!

La Bougie, an Irish fragrance brand with excellent price points have just released their new Cedar Atlas scent which is available in a scented candle, room diffuser, eau de parfum, and perfume oil roller. It’s a unisex fragrance and a complete no-brainer - I’d say it’s an almost universally pleasing scent, with notes of Cedarwood, Oud and Thyme. You really can’t go wrong with the combination of fresh and earthy.

Ormonde Jayne who have become a firm favourite of mine, have recently launched a new collection of scented candles and reed diffusers. The new scents are Peony, Rosae, and Ambre Royal which are all stunning. Ambre Royal won for me, but it really was a tough choice, and there’s a fourth new scent to be revealed this summer. The candles come in an ombre glass vessel with a champagne coloured metal lid - perfect to keep in the bathroom as a pretty storage container when finished.

Baobab are purveyors of gorgeous home fragrance in incredible decorative vessels - think hand-blown glass, textured ceramic, and abstract and figurative prints to name a few, each to treasure long after they’re empty. The Coral Pearls candle from one of their permanent collections, is housed in a stunning hand-blown glass vessel with notes of Neroli, Petit Grain and Vetiver - the perfect spring fragrance. I also adore their crocheted raffia collection, not just because it’s so very beautiful, but also that they work with a cooperative of artisans in Madagascar to create the crocheted covers, which enables women to support their families and sustain their communities. It’s an ongoing partnership with new designs being produced each year. Baobab specialise in large multi-wick candles, with many of their collections available in five sizes, the largest standing at 35 centimetres tall, with 7 wicks, and weighing over 10 kilos! You can visit their beautiful flagship store on Marylebone High Street in London.

Verden, who I’m sure you’re already familiar with, have added a really beautiful sleep mist called Nocturne to their collection, and I’ve been using it daily. It’s a delicious fresh, soothing scent with its blend of soporific herbs and lavenders - too good just for falling asleep to if you ask me - I want to smell it every time I walk into our bedroom! J’adore.

That’s it for this time, I like having a bit more time and space to write about brands and products I love, and to have it stick around for longer than a mere 24 hours, so let’s call this an occasional feature as and when I’ve got more to share.
