The Thermostat [16th May 2022]

I’m BACK!

A week in bed with Covid, followed by exhaustion, and several weeks of life and house chaos, meant I totally dropped the ball on my blogging game for a while there. I’m sure you really missed me and have been obsessively refreshing your inbox waiting for me to come back, right?!

To get the week started, here are a few things that have caught my eye in the past few weeks that I think you’ll be interested in too…

Little Greene Re:mix

An absolutely brilliant idea by the lovely people at Little Green Paint Company (and one of my long time favourite brands), Re:mix is a collection of twenty existing Little Greene colours that have been formulated using leftover, and damaged stock. This will save up to 60,000 litres year going to waste, and you get an absolute bargain in the process - the 2.5L tins are available at Little Greene for just £28. The current colour collection has some absolute beauties, including yellows, greens, pinks, and loads of brilliant warm neutrals. Stock is obviously limited, and the next collection will have a different colour card based on what stock becomes available. Bravo Little Greene!

Roam In Colour

Speaking of favourite brands, the Sonos Roam speaker is now available in three beautiful new colours, Sunset, Wave and Olive, as well as the original black and white. These little speakers are so powerful and super handy - we absolutely love ours.

Kirkby Design x Eley Kishimoto Edition II

Kirkby Design has collaborated with Eley Kishimoto for the second time, and the collection is nothing less than stunning. A more muted colour palette this time around, paired with super cool patterns (obvs), but the combination is unexpected and frankly brilliant. Think uber-luxe grasscloth wallpaper, with the signature Eley flash motif, and tactile woven fabrics aplenty. I can’t stop touching the swatch of Flash fabric I’ve been sent in the Natural colour way (most definitely my favourite), and the worlds coolest throw is coming soon too. Major swoon!

Gubi Obello Portable Lamp

It seems like everywhere you look another lighting brand is releasing a portable lamp, and I’m not mad. The latest one to turn my head is the Obello by Gubi, which lasts up to 40 hours, is dimmable and its mushroom shape will work beautifully inside and out. SO lovely. I’ll take this entire set up thanks…

Have I Got News For You

And finally, ME ME ME! Our new bathroom and utility room were featured in the The Sunday Times back on the 8th, in the interview I chatted about our supersized bathroom and the placement of washing machines in kitchens in so many British households (WHY?!). I was over the moon to move ours out of the kitchen and up into the new tiny utility last year - an absolute game-changer that has made doing the washing much less of a chore, and freed up kitchen space too. A flurry of lovely new followers found me on Instagram as a result, and the ‘story’ was also picked up by Have I Got News For You resulting in a namecheck on national TV. I had no idea that Kirsty Allsopp had expressed quite strong opinions on washing machines in kitchens a few years ago, and was happy to have someone else, er, me, agree with her. At least we agree on something I guess? Silver linings and all that. And yes, I am prone to exaggeration and drama, but it IS pretty life-changing. Ha!
