Fab FIFTEEN - Bedside Tables

Whenever I ask my Instagram followers what they need help with finding, there are three things that are consistently the most popular requests, and bedside tables is one of them. So today’s Fab ‘Five’ is a bumper edition, and I’ve found not five, but fifteen fab bedside tables, so if you, like many it would seem, are on the hunt, I hope this helps! There are a LOT of not so great bedside tables on the market, and so many dull samey ones too. That’s totally a word, right? Anyway, I’ve sifted through hundreds to put this edit together (you’re welcome).
I would always say that if you have the space, do go bigger rather than smaller - as in wider, and always make sure the height works with your bed. Too small and they can just look a bit lost depending on what else is going on around them. Around the same height as the mattress is my visual and practical preference. I hate feeling hedged in, and also don’t want to crack my head on the corner of a bedside table in the middle of the night either. As with everything, these aren’t rules, and you should choose what works best for you and your particular bedroom layout.
We have bedside tables with no storage, which might not work for everyone, but there’s nothing I ‘need’ right next to me that I can’t just pop on top (glasses, lip balm, water), and it also stops us from filling yet more drawers with, well, more stuff we don’t even need. That said, a larger bedside table with drawers might double as an underwear drawer, so again, do what’s best for you and the space you have to play with. Controversially, I always used to think we needed more storage (and we still majorly lack on the wardrobe space front!), but I’ve kind of changed my mind to thinking perhaps we need less stuff, not more places to put it. But that’s a whole other story.
As always, don’t forget to have a look around for vintage pieces (yes that can be trickier if you’re after a pair, but not impossible), check Instagram sellers - many of whom offer a sourcing service, and the big vintage platforms like Pamono and Vinterior, and of course, good old eBay too.
This edit covers all bases, from really affordable to über-luxe. I’d happily have any of them in my home, but no prizes for guessing which one is my absolute favourite!
Right then, let’s get to it…
