Fab Five: Mother's Day Gift Ideas
[Contains affiliate links marked with an asterisk]
Let’s face it: when it comes to gifts, sometimes you have to say what you want, rather than hoping someone gets it right. Or always, if you’re on the particularly fussy side, like me. Sorry Ed, sorry kids, but at least you know what you’re dealing with.
I figure I can’t be the only hard to please mum out there, and a Mother’s Day gift in my book should be purely selfish. Never something you can use in order to do something for someone else, like baking equipment or kitchen appliances. No, no, no.
So here are some ideas, for your mother, mother figure, mother-in-law, or most importantly, for you. I find that sending very unsubtle hints in the form of links works best, direct to the person in charge of purchasing said Mother’s Day gift…
1. Rose Of No Man’s Land Hand Cream - Byredo at SpaceNK*
I’ve been obsessing over this scent in perfume form for a few years now, which means its definitely at the top of my perfume wish list. The hand cream is a more affordable option, and there's a body lotion and body wash too. Byredo candles are also pretty wonderful - my favourite is Safran which I am probably going to self-gift pretty soon. True story.
2. Champagne Afternoon Tea at The Wolseley
Always a favourite, such a lovely room, a lively atmosphere and great service and food. The Cream Tea is really reasonably priced too, if you don’t want, or can’t stretch to the full shebang, but make mine a Champagne, okay?
The ultimate luxury for me is a box of a dozen Macarons from Ladurée. I only wish they would bring back my favourite ever flavour, mint! Rose comes a close second though, and they have some spectacular sounding new (to me at least) flavours, including Cherry Blossom Tea and Mimosa. Drool! Best bought and consumed on the same day if at all possible in my opinion, though they do deliver too. There’s one in St Pancras Station now FYI, dangerously close for me!
4. Peace Love & Liberty Silk Scarf - Liberty*
Love love love Liberty’s silk scarves. I’m not a scarf wearer, but I am a big fan of framed silk scarves as art. These are limited edition and there are others to choose from too. This and the Love one are my favourites!
5. Ada Double Soft Cotton Pyjamas - Toast
These might just be the perfect shade of pink and they look so very soft and comfortable too. Linen can be a bit hot, I’ve never particularly liked the idea of silk pyjamas, but these really do look juuuuuuust right.
Hope that gives you some ideas, I’ve certainly given myself some. Ha!
If I’m being really honest, the perfect Mother’s Day could start with macarons in bed wearing the pink pyjamas, showering with Rose of No Man’s Land body wash, then layering on the body lotion, hand cream AND perfume, before afternoon tea at the Wolseley, then coming home to decide where to hang that scarf, and probably polishing off the macarons. But I would be honestly be just as happy with a home made card, a cup of Earl Grey in bed and a hug. Okay, maybe some flowers too.
