The Hot 'New' Lighting Shape You Need In Your Home!

Okay, so conical lighting shapes are certainly not ‘new’ as such, but this specific triangle shape, a nod to the Art Deco period, is having a huge moment. Or at least it’s about to.

I’ve noticed this shape appearing more and more over the last few months in my visual travels, and then I spotted a few at Maison et Objet in Paris last week - they are definitely ‘a thing’!

Think completely straight sides rather than curves, and if you can add a wave or a pleat to the surface party, why the hell not? There are some stunning options to choose from.

Some of these are reasonable prices, some more eye-watering, though I would argue that the Gubi 9602 floor lamp is a forever piece - a family heirloom even. And you can bet your bottom dollar that if you don’t want to invest in a forever piece, that there will be more and more affordable versions popping up all over the place in the coming months, because where Gubi goes, others will follow.

You can absolutely mix this shape with the round paper lanterns that I talked about here too - they compliment each other beautifully - I’m thinking about a paper lantern for our bedroom and maybe the lilac triangle lamps, or perhaps the cobalt. Or the ochre...

Oh and keep an eye out for shell shaped shades too, because Gubi have done a lamp with a brass shell shade* - another classic Deco shape incidentally, so you know you’ll be seeing more of those too.

Anyway back to the job at hand, this updated streamlined cone shape and the bold contemporary colours (or indeed simple black, white or wicker!), make this incarnation feel super fresh and modern, and I’ve rounded up my absolute favourites.

Now, does anyone want to join me in a lamps anonymous group? Because I definitely have a problem...
